Middle Brow Homebrewing Competition and Man-B-Que Dinner
ManBQue and Middle Brow are psyched to announce that we’re teaming up for a special Chicago Craft Beer Week event at Cobra Lounge.
On May 24th, ManBQue will be throwing one of its famous beer pairing dinners, and Middle Brow will be holding one of its homebrewing competitions as part of that dinner ... but with a very important twist: ManBQue members at the dinner will help pick the winning beer!
Ticket and contest info for contestants and guests
Homebrewing contestants: each homebrewer will submit a beer in one of four possible styles to pair with a specific ManBQue dinner course. Please keep in mind that you will be pouring samples of your beers (and eating delicious food) at the event. Also, make sure you have a minimum of 8 bottles to serve to all guests. Please purchase the ticket tied to the style you're submitting. Please don't purchase the "ManBQue Dinner" ticket.
ManBQue Members and General Public: you'll be tasting every beer pairing and voting on your favorite paring beer for each course. The winning beer from each course will then advance to the final round, where the ManBQue and Middle Brow guys will pick the winner. Please purchase the "ManBQue Dinner" ticket.
Eligible beer styles (with food pairing in parentheses):
1) Session (pairing: Arugula Salad with a Poached Pear Vinaigrette)
2) Belgian (pairing: Smoked Garlic Wings)
3) Stout (pairing: Flank Steak with Basil Chimichurri Sauce)
4) Anything goes... something spiced or offbeat that pairs well (pairing: Five-Spice Bacon-Fat Ginger Snap Cookie and Candied Bacon)
PLEASE NOTE: due to space constraints, we'll only have room for 5-6 contestants per style. If you purchase a ticket and reserve a spot, please be sure to have beer ready for the event. If you don't get the chance to enter this contest, don't sweat it: we'll have another one later in the summer.
As always, the winning beer will be commercially brewed and distributed throughout Chicago, and we’ll be donating half of our profits to charity. The winner will also receive a cash prize.
