Bar on Buena, sister bar to the Fountainhead, is an Uptown gem. The unassuming bar (literally on Buena Ave) offers a more intimate space than its bigger sibling, but plenty of great beer and whiskey choices too. Get their burger and settle in for a few rounds.
Further north, Andersonville’s Acre impressed last year with their “FauxBAB” barrel-aged beer night. A miniature festival of barrel-aged beers, some rare and delicious high ABV beers made an appearance. A spot that stands out in an outstanding neighborhood, it’s highly recommended for a few good beers and some locally-sourced eats.
Jerry’s Sandwiches is new to Andersonville, a follow-up to their successful Wicker Park location. Playing host to some great events and tap takeovers since their opening, Jerry’s boasts an extensive list of sandwiches and craft beer. What more do you need?
Of course, one cannot use beer and Andersonville in the same sentence without mentioning the Hopleaf. The draft selection is impressive, with many domestic craft and, of course, Belgian beers to choose from. The food is rich; exactly what you want to soak it all up. And while they may not be known for jumping on the bandwagon, quality speaks for itself. Events are year round, but if you’re in A-ville for Chicago Craft Beer Week, do yourself a favor and stop in; your friends will likely have had the same idea.
